Awards and Scholarships
There are a number of awards, scholarships, bursaries and grants available to TRU Gaglardi students in recognition of academic excellence and community service. Students are encouraged to visit Student Awards and Financial Aid to see the full listing of available opportunities in the Awards Guide and review key dates and deadlines.
Additionally, there are several student awards adjudicated specifically by TRU Gaglardi faculty that require applications. The application period is open from Friday, Nov. 15, 2024 to Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024. Successful students will be notified in early March. Details on each award, including online applications, are available below. Please carefully review each award eligibility criteria before applying.
TRU Gaglardi Faculty and Staff Award: $1,000
This award is for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students entering their third or fourth year with a minimum GPA of 3.67. The successful student will demonstrate a positive contribution to the classroom environment and involvement in co-curricular activities. The award recipient will be selected jointly by the Dean and Faculty Council Chair. To be eligible for this award, students must submit two reference letters from TRU Gaglardi faculty members.
ApplyTRU Gaglardi Outstanding International Student Award: $1,000
One award provided annually to an outstanding full-time international student within the Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics. This award annually celebrates and recognizes a student with a GPA of 3.00 or higher who is going above and beyond to give back to TRU Gaglardi (through tutoring, enhancing a business club, etc.). Students must demonstrate active participation in on-campus clubs and activities in a letter of introduction.
ApplyRBC Student Scholar to Business Award: $5,000
One $5,000 award will be presented to a top academic student in their third year of study in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program or their first year of study in the post-baccalaureate business diploma program. Open to both domestic and international students, the successful recipient is selected based on their GPA, attitude, achievements, leadership potential and ability to relocate. The recipient will also be presented with an interview opportunity with RBC staff upon receipt of the award.
ApplyKPMG Student Scholar to Business Award: $5,000
Awarded annually to a top academic student who has completed their second or third year of study in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program majoring in Accounting or is currently enrolled in the Accounting Post-Baccalaureate program. The award is adjudicated by the Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics with the recipients selected based on their GPA, attitude, achievements, and leadership potential. Award recipients will also be presented with an interview opportunity with KPMG upon receipt of the award.
ApplyChartered Financial Analysts of the Okanagan Award: $2,000
Awarded annually to students registered in a business program — Business Administration, Management or Commerce or a post-graduate business program (i.e. MBA) — who is in the top quartile of their class or has evidence of volunteer activity for the CFA Okanagan Society. Applicants must also show evidence of enrollment in the CFA program registration for exam intake for December or June.
ApplyChartered Professional Accountants' Education Foundation of BC Award: $2,000
Two awards of $2,000 each awarded to fourth year accounting students in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program, maintaining at least a B average in Accounting courses over the previous two semesters, and expressing intention to enter the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program. Applicants must submit statement of intention to enter the CPA program (max. 250 words).
ApplyLake Family Social Responsibility Award: $1,400
Awarded to an international business student enrolled full-time in a Post-Baccalaureate program with a minimum GPA of 3.33. The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to the advancement of corporate social responsibility by outlining their involvement in activities that include or promote ethical decision-making for businesses. This may include volunteer roles, student club participation, relevant work experience or other extra-curricular activities.
BC Graduate Scholarships (Deadline: December 1st)
BC Graduate Scholarships are given to the best and brightest graduate students who are leaders in their fields. Eligible graduate programs will be research intensive and professional with emphasis, but not exclusive, focus on disciplines related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants.

Canada Graduate Scholarship - Master's Program (CGS-M) (Deadline: December 1st)
TRU offers four CGS-M entrance awards for domestic students, one each from the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and two from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). These three granting agencies have harmonized the application process. There is now one application for all three councils. The application must be completed through the Research Portal. Students must create and attach a Canadian Common CV (CCV), and a version of the CCV has been modified specifically for the CGS-M. Applicants must also upload all necessary official transcripts, and an outline of their proposed research, and will be prompted in the application to invite two people to provide reference assessments.
