Shannon’s Bio
Shannon’s attraction to computing science was first sparked through a course in programming during
her final year in high school. It inspired her to register in TRU’s Computer Systems: Operations and
Management diploma, later laddering it into the TRU Bachelor of Computing Science degree. During her
studies, she did a number of co-operative education work terms that solidified her career path and
in 2011, she joined TRU’s Open Learning Business Intelligence unit. For 6 years, she applied her
analytical mind to evidenced-based problem solving across TRU through the program metrics and data
reports she produced as a Data Analyst. Needing more challenge, Shannon joined the Enterprise
Systems team as a Senior Systems Analyst and is enjoying learning from her colleagues throughout IT
Services at TRU. When she’s not tussling with data and systems, Shannon keeps busy with martial arts
(Muay Thai) and spending time with her parents gathering and preserving traditional foods. This
self-proclaimed computer-geek is proudly Aboriginal. Shannon’s mother hails from St’at’imc Territory
and her father is from Nlaka’pamux Nation in Lillooet and Lytton, BC, respectively.
