Diploma and Dual Credential Requirements TRU Respiratory Therapy
A selective admission process based on academic qualifications determines admission into the Respiratory Therapy Program.
Applicants who meet the minimal education requirements for admission are ranked and selected for admission according to the following:
- Applicants with an undergraduate degree (preferably BSc) and a CGPA ≥ 2.33.
- Highest GPA in high school and post-secondary education
- The number of years of post-secondary education
- The number of successfully (C+ or greater) completed postsecondary science courses

Three-Year Diploma Applications
Educational requirements
- B.C. Grade 12 (or higher) with a C+ minimum average
- English 12/English 12 First Peoples (or higher) with a C+ minimum grade
- Foundations of Math 12 or Pre-calculus 12 (or higher) with a C+ minimum grade
- Anatomy and Physiology 12 (or higher) with a C+ minimum grade
- Chemistry 12 (or higher) with a C+ minimum grade
- Physics 11 (or higher) with a C+ minimum grade
International students may apply to the RT program, but they must first apply to International Admissions. (Limited seats)

A GPA will be generated using the five courses above for admissions consideration and ranking. Applicants with post-secondary education will be additionally ranked by number of post-secondary credits completed and if they have completed a degree.
Additional information for high school applicants
Seats for high school applicants are limited, and with the high number of applicants with advanced education, we recommend 1-2 years post-secondary education in a Bachelor of Science program.
